About

This project is supported by the federal government's Indigenous employment program

Our people have a proud history in the wool industry. I've been in the game since I was 14 and now I am one of the biggest shearing contractors in the country. I've got four teams working for me.

Now I want to pass on my knowledge and my skills to the next generation.

So here is your chance to learn from me and my team while you earn a real wage.

After years of drought, the sheep and wool industry is now looking for young people like you. But you need some skills and that's what the Merriman Shearing School is about - Indigenous people stepping up to the mark and showing what we can do.

It's hard work, but it's the best way to start a career in the industry. It's up to you.
